Bethel AME Church, Shelly Bay, Hamilton Parish, invite you to attend a
Kingdom Multi-Faceted Evangelistic Outreach
at Shelly Bay Park
on October 23rd, 2010, 9am to 7pm.
Bethel AME Church Evangelistic Project
“Kingdom Multi-faceted Evangelistic Outreach”
Our 2010 Women’s Day was to have an Evangelistic thrust and was to be Kingdom focused, thus the theme was “Kingdom Focused Women”, the supporting scriptures were as follows:-
Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Romans 14:17 “For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
Proverbs 11:30 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”
The all day, outdoor Outreach event was planned for Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 at the Shelly Bay Park, Hamilton Parish, Bermuda. It was to be the first of our Pre-Woman’s Day events, to go out into the Community and plan an event that would draw all the family, saved, unsaved, men, women and children, young and old, the whole community……….something for everyone.
There was to be Prayer, praise and worship, drama, skits, liturgical dance, mime, soloists, choirs, Speakers & The Word, food, drink, baked goods, free clothing and shoes give away for adults and children and more. Also there were times planned when the sound of a Shofar was to be heard and at those times, everyone was to stop what they were doing and we all were to come together to pray, led by one of our intercessors. One of the uses of the Shofar back in Biblical times, was to sound the battlecry in preparation for war. So it was planned that when we heard that sound we would come together to warfare for the various needs of our country. Each intercessor was assigned what they had to pray for, in whatever way the Holy Spirit led. Prayer focuses were the community, families, marriages, government, youth, gangs, the unsaved, etc.
Preparation
Every auxiliary and ministry of the church was invited to set up a table of their choosing, and praise God, all the auxiliaries of the church responded and came with their various goods and worked together in setting up tables around the perimeter of the field. In the centre area was to be the stage and all the sound equipment and a large tent was in front of the stage with chairs underneath (mostly for the senior folk and in case of rain – see map attached).
Advertising went out in the community by way of radio station adds, newspaper adds, flyers being posted at public places all through the Island, hand outs and we also put up a huge banner at the entrance of Shelly Bay Park on the roadside, announcing the event, inviting all to come. It was to be a family event, thus men, women and children were all encouraged to attend.
We also invited other churches to participate, as well as flyers were sent to all the churches inviting them to attend and bring their families. Invitations were also sent to our Politicians, some schools, and to some of our Facilities for housing Seniors. We rented bathroom facilities and a Fun Castle for the children.
One of the brothers in the church who is an Electrician, had to go to the Park the night before the event to install all the electrical equipment so that all the appliances, the keyboard and sound equipment would work. It was ascertained which tables needed electricity and how many appliances they had to connect and a plan was made. He blessed us with this work, free of charge.
Tables, chairs and other equipment had to be transported from our church to the Park.
The Event
The glorious sunny day began with the Evangelistic Team meeting early in the morning for prayer at the grounds, we prayed while walking the circumference of the Park, consecrating the grounds, inviting the Holy Spirit in, and asking God to set the atmosphere for souls to be won and people to be blessed.
The Sound technician and all his equipment, sound board, speakers, etc. arrived first at 6:30am and all the church came and were all working with excitement in whatever area they were assigned. Each table was to have a tent over it, so there was much work going on as we put up tents and set everything in place,
There was a problem with the big main tent and the stage, as they did not arrive until around 10am. We were just praying and putting our faith and trust in God to work out the kinks. The program was due to start at 9am, but it did not start until about noon. The tent had to be put up and the staging put together and all the sound equipment put in place and tested, and all Praise be unto God, everyone just helped one another until everything was done and ready.
NB: It was a lesson to us, as we did not realize how much time it took to get everything transported to the Park and set up. All hands were on deck, and what the enemy meant for evil in the delays, turned out for good, as it gave everyone a chance to be completely ready at the same time.
By noon, everyone was at their station, ready and raring to go!! Halleluia! The atmosphere was charged with excitement and music and love. God had changed the plan, and we had no choice but to just trust Him and go with His program.
The stage events began with our Pastor, Rev. Lorne Bean, giving the opening prayer and also an explanation of the Shofar.
NB: Another lesson for us was that everyone could not come for the whole day, so we saw miracle after miracle as, whenever we looked for the next group or event on the stage, someone was always there, in most cases, they had just arrived. We were sending people to the stage and sometimes, did not have a clue as to who was going on next as it looked like no one was there, but every time, someone would show up from our program and everything was falling into place. It was a test of our faith and God was so faithful.
The children ministered in dance, mime, in song (children’s choir) and a skit, they were very much involved, even with helping to serve at the tables, and were enjoying every minute.
The Family Choir, the various soloists - Tricray Astwood, Big Snipes and Sis. Richeesha Binns, some of whom were sharing their testimonies, were all a blessing.
The Speakers were:-
Sis. Lillian Ramphele, a South African inmate at the Women’s Correctional Facility in Bermuda. She is a woman sold out for the Lord, who is incarcerated for bringing drugs to our Island. In jail, she had an encounter with the Lord and is now saved and full of the Holy Spirit. She has a definite gifting for preaching the gospel and has a very powerful personal testimony of a life that spiraled downward after her husband died suddenly, which landed her here in a Bermuda jail serving a 12 year sentence. She openly testifies of what God allowed in her life to get her attention. She likens herself to “the woman at the well”. God has now given her favor with the Heads of the Prison Service and she is occasionally allowed to go out to preach. We were so thankful that she was allowed to speak at our Outreach. Her powerful testimony touched the hearts of many.
Evan. Kimmie Mello, is a young man, a husband and father, the son of an Evangelist, and attends St. Luke AME Church in St. David’s, Bermuda. He is on fire for the Lord and also has a powerful testimony of a past involved in selling drugs and prostitution. He also boldly testifies of how God delivered him from the hands of the enemy and realizes the value of having a praying Mother.
After their ministry, many came forward during the invitation, one soul was saved, and many were ministered to and prayed for. A lot of ministry was happening from this point on, even after the invitation was through, people were still praying together, in groups and for one another, and Ministers from other churches that were present were helping with the ministry. To God be all the Glory!!
The final stage event was the song “We Shall Behold Him”, gloriously sung by Sis. Malinda Jennings, while the dance team from Richard Allen AME Church ministered in liturgical dance. They resembled angels in their white flowing uniforms, a fitting end in honor of our Great King!
After the closing prayer, again everyone got to work to break down everything except the stage, on which at the same time, a large screen was being erected. It was amazing how everyone worked so quickly and efficiently to take down tents and transport tables and equipment back to church, then everyone settled down to watch a movie entitled “Flywheel”. It was a family movie and carried a strong message about forgiveness.
Everything was completed at about 9:30pm, and everyone went home happy and satisfied after a fulfilling day. The next day at church, the same Spirit was there. Everyone was so happy! The love that was felt was awesome! Only God! I believe God was pleased with our effort. Many were asking if we could do another.
Note:
A white English gentlemen wandered into the Park during the program, he was embraced, made to feel welcome and comfortable. He mingled, ate, enjoyed the stage events, and he stayed right through until the end of the movie. He later told me when I saw him at another function a few weeks later, that he was amazed at how he saw everyone working together and helping to clean up and cooperating with one another without any confusion. Who knows, he may one day grace the doors of our church……..or may allow the Lord to come into his life because of something he saw that day……
Again, to God be ALL the Glory!!
